Medical Debt

An increasing number of Americans are saddled with overwhelming bills from hospitals and other health care providers. Not only are these bills taking their toll on family finances, they are causing people who desperately need medical services to forego necessary care. They simply cannot afford to pay for medical care or are afraid of the consequences of sinking deeper into debt. Many people are embarrassed to seek care at facilities where they owe money, and the facilities themselves often withhold or delay care from those who owe.
