NCLC has awarded Lynn Drysdale
its prestigious Vern Countryman Consumer Law Award. This national award, given
at the 11th annual Consumer Rights Litigation Conference held recently in Baltimore,
recognizes and honors Drysdale's outstanding accomplishments in consumer law
and her significant contributions to the well being of low-income Americans.
"Lynn Drysdale has
battled tirelessly to protect vulnerable consumers from unscrupulous scam artists
and dubious fringe lenders who target low-income and elderly victims,"
said Willard Ogburn, executive director of NCLC, in presenting the award. "She's
a truly exceptional consumer advocate and we applaud her efforts on behalf of
low-income consumers."
Drysdale is an attorney
on the staff of Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, Jacksonville, Fla. Her outstanding
consumer advocacy and litigation are recognized in Florida and nationally and
have earned her the respect of clients and community. She is well known to legislators
and regulators for her tireless efforts to protect consumers from the abuses
associated with predatory lenders, fraudulent trade schools, car title loans,
payday lenders, and other marketplace scams.
The Countryman Award is presented annually to honor the accomplishments of
exceptional attorneys serving the public interest who, through the practice
of consumer law, have contributed significantly to the well being of vulnerable
consumers.
