A Center for Consumer Expertise and Advocacy

A Message from Bryan Kemnitzer, Campaign Chair

Home at last - after 38 years in a succession of make-do rented offices, NCLC expects to move into a home of its own by early next summer. Now that our goal is in sight our capital campaign is more urgent than ever.

As luck would have it, after looking over all of Boston for a suitable home, NCLC found it right across the street from the space they currently lease. They and their advisors are confident that of all the buildings they looked at, this best serves their needs for both the long- and short-term. Built in the 1870s, the outside retains its original style, but the inside has been gutted and requires a complete remodeling.

Thanks to many generous friends we’ve raised over $4 million for the building, but the purchase price plus the expense of totally reworking the inside, put NCLC’s final price over $8 million. That makes NCLC’s building campaign more important than ever.

Let me assure you, building ownership for NCLC is not about a fancy office or an expensive address. It’s about the future and ensuring that NCLC can continue to speak out on behalf of vulnerable consumers, helping to protect them from marketplace abuses. It’s for the benefit of the entire community of consumer advocates who so often rely on NCLC’s expertise and services. It’s about giving the Center the financial security to be there for all of us long into the future.

NCLC urgently need our help in this final phase of fundraising. Now is the time to make your gift to their building fund. If you can’t give as much as you’d like to now, make a pledge. Please, NCLC needs your help. Support the campaign and give a gift today. Just click on the donate button and be as generous as you can.
