I hope as you look over our website you get a sense of just how much NCLC does on behalf of low-income clients. Many of you think of us only in connection with our legal manuals. While we’re very proud of those manuals and we work very hard to make them the best consumer law resources in the field, we do much, much more.
Our issues are many: credit discrimination, e-commerce protections, immigrant consumer scams, predatory lending with its many harmful faces, auto fraud, energy prices and practices, arbitration, telecommunications abuses, bankruptcy, foreclosure prevention, elder fraud, and more. Our approaches to combating these abuses are opportunistic and just as varied: advocacy before state and federal administrative and rule-making bodies, expert testimony, list-serves, nationwide trainings, and litigation.
We do all this because we know all too many low-income consumers are being abused, and we worry because the few legal protections poor consumers have are being threatened in legislative bodies and courts across the country.
. . . can we count on you?
We can only help low-income consumers with your support and interest - we depend
on your financial gifts and cy pres to underwrite our efforts. I hope you’ll
take a moment to make a contribution to us – send a check, give us permission
to charge a gift to your credit card, or call our development department (617/542-8010)
for information. Send your gift to National Consumer Law Center, 77 Summer Street,
10th Floor, Boston, MA 02110.
