Social Insecurity: Understanding Federal Benefits Offsets

The National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) is pleased to announce the availability of a new publication, the latest in a series of practice packages designed to help elder advocates learn how to bring various types of consumer law cases.

The package contains information on the ways in which the government, creditors and banks can seize seniors’ federal benefits to collect debts. In addition, the publication contains useful information on what seniors can do to challenge offsets or address the underlying debt problems.

One copy per organization is free to non-profit organizations serving seniors and to legal services programs. For other organizations or individuals and for additional copies, the cost will be $35.00.
